The thinking

Second Spring came to us as a new business with no brand and no website. Before anything was designed, we worked out what the business needed to say. Then we created the identity, wrote every page, and designed and built the site.

Coastal Collective

Coastal Collective is a community with its own platform: events, ticketed bookings and member accounts. We took over the running of the platform, secured it, and have been extending it ever since. Since we took it over, nearly 300 member accounts and over 130 event bookings have gone through it.

The thinking

Coastal Collective is a real community, running on a platform it had inherited, with one person holding all the keys. We took over the running of it and made it more secure. Since then we have kept extending it: events, ticketed bookings, member accounts. The community uses it daily at coastalcollective.uk.

The thinking

parallax-thinking.com is our own strategy practice, so this time the client was us. We ran it through the same process we sell: the thinking settled first, then the words, then the design and the build. The site went all the way through to taking card payment for a real product.

The planning canvas

TOOL · DESIGN · BUILD

The planning canvas is our own planning tool, built by the studio and in use every day. It is the one piece here you cannot visit: it is where our own work gets planned before it is built.

The thinking

The planning canvas is an internal tool we built for our own studio. It is a canvas of cards joined by drawn wires, one folder per project, where we lay out the workflow for a piece of work so it can be seen whole before it is built. Each card carries its own comment thread, so the plan and the conversation about it live in the same place. It is deliberately not an automation tool: it draws the work rather than runs it.

Beside the websites, four apps. Three of them are our own tools, the fourth is client work. The label on each says where it has got to.
