Privacy and analytics
What this site records about a visit, what we hold when we email a business, and how to stop both.
We count visits so we can see what people read. We do not run adverts, and we do not sell anything we hold.
01
What we count
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where in the world a visitor is, the kind of device they use, and which website or search sent them here. We use those numbers to see what people read and to improve the site.
It does not tell us who you are. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not combine it with anything else we hold.
02
Cookies
Google Analytics stores two small files, called cookies, in your browser. They hold a random number so that a return visit is counted as the same visitor rather than a new one. They hold nothing about you.
UK law lets a site do this for statistics without asking first, as long as it tells you plainly and gives you a simple way to say no. This page is both of those things.
03
Switch it off
Turning analytics off applies to this browser on this device, and holds until you turn it back on. Nothing else on the site changes.
04
When you get in touch
If you email us or request a conversation, we keep what you send so that we can reply and, if we work together, so that we know what you asked for. It is used for nothing else.
05
Outreach emails and concept sites
We email businesses to offer them our services. Some of those emails link to a concept site, which is our redesign of the business's own website. Each concept site has its own address ending in parallax-studio.io.
Concept site visits
Our newer concept sites count their visits, and older ones do not. Counting starts only once we have emailed the business its link. For each page opened after that, our server notes the business, the concept, the page and the time.
It does this as it sends the page, so nothing is added to the page: no cookies and no tracking code. For a visit, we do not record the visitor's IP address, the number that identifies an internet connection, or any browser details.
We mark a visit in the first two minutes after our first email with the link as probably automated. Many email systems open the links in a new message to check they are safe.
The map on a concept site loads from Google only if you press Show map. Google then receives the concept site's address, and may set its own cookies. Google's privacy policy applies.
Contact forms and the buy page
Some concept sites have a contact form. A message sent through it comes to us, not to the business the concept was made for, because that business has not bought the site.
We store the name, email address, phone number and message you send, with the time, in our database at Supabase. Resend then emails the message to us.
Each concept site also has a buy page, where the business can buy the site. The buyer pays on Stripe's own page, so card details never reach us. Stripe gives us the buyer's name and email address, which we keep with the details of the payment. Resend emails the buyer a confirmation and tells us about the sale.
The form and the buy page each keep a scrambled version of the sender's IP address for about a day. This limits how often one connection can use them. We do not keep the address itself.
Your right to object
You can object at any time, which means telling us to stop. We then stop emailing your business and stop noting visits to its concept site. We also delete the visit and click records we already hold.
To object, reply to any email we have sent you, use the link at the foot of it, or write to hello@parallax-studio.io. A link in an email more than 12 months old may no longer work, so reply instead.
What else we hold
For each business we email, or plan to, we hold:
- its name, website and public business details, such as its postal address
- its details from the Companies House register, including its directors' names, ages and dates of appointment
- the names, job titles and email addresses of people at the business, and their LinkedIn profile addresses where we find them
- where no email address is published, one we have guessed from the person's name and the website's address, such as firstname@
- notes from our research, some prepared with the AI services named below
- where Scott Morgan, our founder, knows someone at the business, how he knows them, such as meeting at a networking event
- the emails we send and any replies, and which link in our email was clicked and when
- whether anyone has asked us to stop
Our sources are the business's own website, the Companies House register, Google Maps, LinkedIn, local and trade directories, and the news.
We do not keep browser details from a click on a link in our email, or from the page where you ask us to stop.
Why we hold it
We use these details to offer our services to the business and to decide whether to follow up. The legal basis is legitimate interests. In UK data protection law, that means a reasonable purpose of our own, which we can pursue unless your rights and interests outweigh it. Ours is marketing to businesses.
Who else handles it
Cloudflare hosts the concept sites and our records. Google's Gmail sends and stores our email. Attio, our customer records service, holds our records of the businesses we approach and of our clients. Anthropic's Claude, an AI service, helps us research businesses and write the emails.
Supabase stores the messages and purchases from concept sites, and Resend sends the emails about them. Stripe takes the payment when a concept site is bought, and keeps its own record of the buyer, with an invoice.
Until 24 September 2026, DeepSeek, an AI service that processes data in China, read the text of a business's website and the contact details we held, to prepare research notes. We have stopped using it.
Cloudflare and Google may handle these details in the United States. They do so under the UK-US data bridge, the arrangement the UK government approved for sending personal details to certified US companies. Our other services, including Anthropic, Attio, Resend, Stripe and Supabase, may handle details outside the UK under their own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep records of concept site visits, and of clicks on the links in our emails, for 90 days.
Twelve months after our last email to a business, we delete the contact names and email addresses we hold for it. We also delete the copies of its web pages we saved for our research, and the name of anyone Scott knows there. The research notes behind our emails are deleted at the same time, including those kept with our notes on the business. Where we noted any of these after that email, or never emailed the business, they are deleted within 12 months of being noted. None of this applies to a business that has replied to us, met us or worked with us, unless the reply asked us to stop.
Some records are not deleted automatically. The emails we wrote stay in our mailbox and our own database, as our record of what was said. Any replies stay in our mailbox. Our emails open with the person's first name. The Companies House details stay, including directors' names and ages. Job titles stay, without the names, as does how Scott knows someone there. So do our other notes on a business, and these can hold names, email addresses, job titles and LinkedIn profile addresses. Our records in Attio, which hold names and email addresses, are not deleted automatically either. Nor is what we have exported from Attio to our own computer. A concept site, and the copy of the business's own pages it was built from, stay until we take the concept down.
If someone asks us to stop by the link in our email, we keep a permanent note of the business and the address that asked. We never email either again. If they ask by reply or by writing to us, we keep a permanent note of the business, and never email it again.
We have not set an end date for messages sent through a concept site's form, or for purchase records. They stay until we delete them.
We delete each backup of our records once it is 90 days old, the next time we take a backup.
Your other rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it or limit how we use it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, tell us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
